Escamilla
Escamilla is a character based on the matador, Escamillo, from Carmen. Her quest not being in the Bullring but the Boardroom. The character represents gender equality in the workplace and is a social response to my time spent within the Corporate environment at the early part of the 21st Century (2004 - 2018). I envisage Escamilla to be played by either man or woman in response to Carmen's love match. The costume was influenced by high fashion designers such as YSL and Jean Paul Gaultier and that of a diva wearing couture pieces. Appliques made from a recycled and dyed sari were used in the construction.
